Pull down the strong holds

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;” II Cor. 10:4

Historically the word “stronghold” referred to a castle or a place with an incredible and often times impenetrable defense system. It would probably have thick stone wall and possibly a large mote surrounding it. The only way for the attackers to get in was to cut off the supply system to the strong hold so that the folks inside would run out of water and food and ultimately have no choice but to surrender.

When the Apostle Paul wrote these words, he was trying to call our attention to the severity of the battle we are engaged in. Our battles are not mere games that we enjoy. They are attacks against an amazing and impenetrable defense that is far superior to our carnal abilities. Yet...when we use the weapons that God has provided us with: Faith, the Word of God, the Spirit of God, etc., we don’t just wait out the Devil we PULL DOWN HIS WALLS!!!
