"The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. Nevertheless, I must walk today, and tomorrow, and day following:" Luke 13:31-33
There is much concern in the American Christian world about the changes in policy in American politics. We have enjoyed uninhibited free speech for quite awhile, and now that seems to be under attack. It almost appears that some of us are going to be facing legal challenges in the days ahead due to our Biblical positions on things like transgender dysphoria and abortion. This has created quite a storm of pronouncements, prophecies, and some fear.
It is with those thoughts in mind that I read the passage in Luke 13. The religious crowd of the day gave Jesus a dire warning about His activities. They told Him that Herod was going to kill Him, if He didn't go into hiding. Jesus is, of course, God and so the threats of a temporary king had no affect on Him. His reply was that He was going to do as He planned. He had a specific job to do and a specific time frame to do it in, and the kings opinion or plans made absolutely no difference.
It encouraged me to remember that I am a minister of the Almighty God. The pronouncements of the king of Twitter (which didn't even exist 30 years ago and probably wont exist in 30 years in the future) really has no bearing on what I am doing and will continue to do. If Facebook decides to censor my voice, it really doesn't matter. We were all concerned about a certain representative from New York, and I wake up this morning to the news that she is losing her seat because too many people have moved out of her district in New York. Suddenly, the speaker that just won his position is being challenged by this young representative and only one of them will remain. However, The message that I have to deliver is one that is timeless. It will outlast any who want to put it down. There is no power that can silence the One who created us. There is no power that can overturn the One who sets up one and sets down another.
Go ahead,....tell that fox, whatever his or her name is, that we will continue to proclaim the Word of God. If God chooses to change the venue, so be it. Will not fear what man can do to us.
