Behave yourself

Writer's picture: Dr. Dan HaifleyDr. Dan Haifley

“...That thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” I Timothy 3:15

I remember when I was a child that my mother used to tell me to behave myself - to which I always rejoined that I always behaved “myself.” The conflict came in my life when I was supposed to behave someone else.

The biggest problem in our lives is that we are the center of our world and everything that happens around is interpreted from that viewpoint. This often creates strains in our relationships and can sometimes damage testimonies and opportunities in the church. The key to being a part of the church is found in this passage: Remembering that what we are doing is about Someone and some things much bigger than we can imagine. Don’t forget that you only a small part of the big picture.

Keep this in mind before you start posting and sharing random tales about political people that you don't like. Behave yourself. Think about this when you are getting ready to give your particular view of the current crisis. Behave yourself. Consider this when you decide to take advantage of the crisis to further your agenda. Behave yourself.
