“And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?” Acts. 3:12
Peter and John had just healed the lame man who sat by the Beautiful gate of the temple. The folks that witnessed it were amazed and quick to spread the word about the power of these two men. However, Peter quickly gave the credit to the Lord, asking the honest question, " Why are you looking at us? We didn't do this by our own power."
Like Peter, we need to remember that spiritual victories do not come from our abilities or personal holiness. Those life changing moments can only come from the Life-Giver, Himself. Oftentimes we pine for the days when God worked miracles through his servants on a regular basis, but the power of God was not confined to them. The power of God is eternal. God can work in any way He chooses at any time He chooses.
Don’t be amazed at the people God uses. Be amazed at the God who uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things.
