" What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour." Psalm 8:4-5

The Perrotin art gallery of Paris has purportedly sold this piece of sculpture, a banana taped to the wall, for $120,000.

What could possibly make this real banana, which is slowly decaying, worth so much money? Well, evidently it is because it was put there by an artist of some note. His name is Maurizio Cattelan, an Italian artist, and his creation was on display in December of 2019 at Art Basel in Miami Beach.

This story made me think of what God has done for us. We are faulty, decaying people. The stench of sin is on us, yet God puts us on display calling us “witnesses” of Him. What makes us so special? To look at us you wouldn’t immediately recognize our value. However….when the name of Jesus, the artist who is molding a masterpiece with our lives, is identified with us, suddenly we become worth far more than rubies. –DH

I thought about duct taping a Frosted Cherry Poptart to the wall ( but that would be a waste of a perfectly good Poptart.)

Worth more than rubies, (or two bananas and a roll of the Handyman's Secret Weapon.)
