“The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.” Psalm 33:11

When you say that you believe in science, just what do you mean? There is an effort in our culture to get us to submit to the whims of every “scientific” study. Yet, the opinions of the supposed experts change from one week to the next. Who and what are we supposed to believe?.... And when are they right, and when are they wrong?

In 1983, astronomer Carl Sagan coauthored an article in Science magazine that shook the world. In his article entitled, "Nuclear Winter: Global Consequences of Multiple Nuclear Explosions" he opined that nuclear war could send a giant cloud of dust into the atmosphere that would cover the globe, blocking sunlight and invoking a climatic change similar to that which might have ended the existence of dinosaurs. Of course, “climate change” is taught now as a scientific fact and we are to just believe it because that is what the experts have told us. However, in 1990 he published another article in the same magazine explaining that he had gotten his math wrong.

In 1999 a fossil smuggled out of China allegedly showing a dinosaur with birdlike plumage was put on display at the National Geographic Society and an article in the November issue of the National Geographic magazine proclaimed it to be the missing link between birds and dinosaurs. Without warning it disappeared from discussion because it turned out to be a hoax. Apparently, a Chinese farmer had rigged together the skeleton from the parts of different animals just for fun.

And then there is the 1986 statistics produced by two Yale sociologists and a Harvard economist which claimed that 35-year-old single women had only a 5 percent chance of ever marrying. They also claimed that unmarred women at 40 were “more likely to be killed by a terrorist” than to get married. A U.S. census bureau statistician checked the census figures after the horror had settled down only to discover that 37% of women over the age of 35 do get married and 24% of those over the age of 40 actually do get married. So much for expert analysis by college professors.

…And don’t get me started on masks.

The simple point of this devotion is that we should not pin our lives on the opinions of man with his faulty projections and ideas. You will find that the Word of God never changes and the principles of life found in it work for every generation. Check the so called “expert scientists” with the timeless truths of the Bible. Trust the Bible not the current intellectual flavor of the day.
