You Can defeat Satan

“So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.” Job 2:7

The book of Job has 42 chapters in it. It is considered one of the poetical books of the Bible in part because of the majesty of its proclamations of God and His creation. The opening two chapters are stunning in that they describe the challenge God threw down on Satan. Job appeared to be an innocent bystander that was treated unfairly.

However, as we study the book we find some interesting precedents that can help us through the difficulties that we face. One of the most obvious is that Satan is defeated in the first two chapters. He does not even come into the discussion again in the rest of the book. God blesses Job with twice as much as what he started with by the end of the story.

The New Testament tells us that if we resist the Devil he will flee from us. The story of Job illustrates this truth. Satan may hit hard, but he can not stand against the power of God and will flee sooner than later.
