What to do when you don't know what to do

"O our God,....we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee." 2 Chronicles 20:12

If you are like me, you have grown tired of the glut of information that is overwhelming us like a political tsunami. If you are like me, you are concerned about the lies and half truths that are being given to us on a daily basis. If you are like me, you are alarmed at the amount of people who can't think for themselves and stand in their place crying like little birds in a nest for someone to give them their next worm. I have struggled with how to respond to our constitutional freedoms being stripped away with very little conflict. I have been chastised by my fellow pastors for being too political and even a little rebellious. These things find me turning over and over again back to God.

This story in 2 Chronicles tells of a group of believers in the one true God, who were faced with an army who was going to undoubtedly conquer them and turn them into slaves. They didn't know what to do so....They turned to God. Verse 13 of the same chapter says this, "And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children."

The Lord answered their cry with the voice of a prophet. The Bible tells us that the Spirit of the Lord came on this prophet and these are the things that He said:

-" Be not afraid nor dismayed.....for the battle is not ours, but God's."

-"...Set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD."

-"...The Lord will be with you."

Then the singers stood up to "to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high."

The King told the people, "Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper." Then the singers began to say, "Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth forever."

What follows is one of the most interesting outcomes in all of the battles of Israel. The Bible says, "And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against.... (those who)... were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

This is what we as a nation need to do. If you are a government official, I beg of you to get on your knees before the Almighty God. If you are afraid of what is coming, please get on your face before God and plead with Him to forgive our sins and heal our land. Then let's watch and see what He does.
