“And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” Colossians 2:15
Death is the hardest thing about life. It frightens us, sometimes making us do things we wouldn't normally do. People will give up their principles, their core beliefs, and sometimes their freedoms just because they are afraid to die.
Death itself is actually the consequence of sin, and it is the judgment on mankind for our rejection of God. The Bible says, "The wages of sin is death..."
Down through the ages, Satan has made an effort to glorify death. The ancient Egyptians worshiped the gods of darkness and death. Even today the extreme music cultures celebrate and encourage death and darkness. Fear of death and darkness is the most powerful tool that Satan has against us.
When Jesus came out of the grave, He spoiled Satan and his armies by taking death and darkness away from them. He openly went right into their camp, and took away the only power they have to manipulate us. No longer do we have to fear death. Darkness flees from the light. Now we can celebrate and rejoice because one day all who have put their trust in Christ will be reunited with Him never again to be threatened with the cause or consequence of sin. That Bible verse about the wages of sin......the whole verse says, "For the wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
