“For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:” II Peter 3:5-6
In March 2020 University of Colorado Boulder researchers Benjamin Johnson and Boswell Wing published a study in the journal Natural Geoscience about some remarkably interesting discoveries they had made. In a study of the strata in the Pilbara region of Australia they discovered some chemical constructs which indicated that the entire region had once been under water. In fact, they hypothesized, based on their findings that the entire world had once been under water.
I think it is great that in 2020 scientists have finally figured this out. We have only been teaching children this for about 5,000 years. In recent years there has been a flood of geological and archaeological evidence which has corroborated many Bible Stories. The Red Sea Crossing has been discovered complete with a gold chariot wheel from the Egyptian arm still lying at the bottom of the sea. The ashes of Sodom and Gomorrah have been analyzed and documented. There is even a visitors’ center in Turkey in the mountains of Ararat where the remains of a boat of petrified wood with the same exact length as the Ark of Noah lies under the sun. The place of battle of Jericho has recently been discovered. The rock that gave water to the Israelites still stands as a sentinel in Saudi Arabia. The blackened peak of Mt. Sinai (Now known as Jabal al Lawz) still stands as a testament to the fire of God that burned on its top.
As the truth of God’s Word is proved to be true over and over again, we can draw comfort that we have not followed “cunningly devised fables,” and that God desires to reveal Himself to us in many ways. When we look for Him, we will find Him.
